Although backpacking with children may seem like a lot of effort, the benefits gained from taking them along can far outweigh the hassles. The benefits include not competing with technology for your children’s attention, teaching them self-sufficiency skills, and watching them connect with the peacefulness of nature. Here are six tips that allow for a more positive experience when backpacking with children.
1. Involve Them In Packing
Make a list of the items to bring and have your children help collect them. If they are not old enough to read, you can read the items to them. This is important because the more the children are involved in preparations the more they will feel a part of the trip, and the less likely they are to be resistant to backpacking.
2. Get Their Help with Choosing the Trail
Choose a couple of trails and sites that are acceptable to you and then let the children choose from among them. This is another way of involving the children and letting them have a say in where you will be going.
3. Give Them Special Items For Backpacking
Give them something special that is to be used only for backpacking. Children enjoy binoculars, water bottles with fun designs on them, walking sticks, and small waterproof cameras. Another special item that is not only fun, but can be very useful, is their own flashlight.
4. Get Them Excited About Going
Getting children excited can be as simple as talking about backpacking in terms of how fun it is. Another method of eliciting excitement is to go to the library and get books on, and about, backpacking. These may be how-to books, especially illustrated ones, or fiction books with characters that have adventures in the woods.
5. Bring Along Games
While there is a lot to entertain children with while backpacking, it is always a good idea to bring along a game or two. These are useful when it rains, or at night when the children are in the tent, but too restless to sleep. Small, lightweight games specific to backpacking can be found in stores that specialize in outdoor activities. Other options consist of purchasing an extra small deck of playing cards (these are about 1/4 of the size of standard decks), using travel versions of traditional games, or repacking games, such as bring the dice from a Yahtzee game in a zip lock bag with a couple sheets of paper and small pencils or pens.
6. Praise Their Hard Work
It can work wonders when children feel that they are impressing their parents. One easy way to accomplish this is to comment on how hard they are working, both with the hike and with camp chores. First, encourage them to do a good job, and then praise the results.
While backpacking with children can be extra work, the end result is often more than worth it. There is something about nature than can calm even an otherwise hyper kid, and time alone with parents provides the perfect opportunity for long talks and quiet companionship, that may proof elusive when at home where computers, televisions, and phones all make distractions a common occurrence.
So, load up the kids next time, and build a special memory that only backpacking with children can create.

Password hacking is the process of recovering passwords from data which has been stored in or transmitted by a computer system. A common approach is to repeatedly try guesses to the password. The purpose of password cracking could be to help an user recover a forgotten password (though installing an entirely new password is a reduced amount of a security risk, but involves system administration privileges), to realize unauthorized access to a system, or as a precautions by system administrators to check for easily hackable passwords. With a file-by-file basis, password cracking must be used to gain access to digital evidence that a judge has allowed access but the particular file’s access is restricted.
The time to hack a password is related to bit strength (see password strength), the industry function of the password’s information entropy. Most ways of password hacking require computer to produce many candidate passwords, each of which is checked. Brute force hacking, where a computer tries every possible key or password until it succeeds, could be the lowest common denominator of password hacking. More widespread methods of password hacking, including dictionary attacks, pattern checking, word list substitution, etc., try and reduce the number of trials required and can usually be attempted before brute force.
The opportunity to hack passwords using applications is a function in the number of possible passwords per second which can be checked. If a hash in the target password can be acquired to the attacker, the dpi can be quite large. If not, the rate depends on whether or not the authentication software limits the frequency of which a password can be tried, either by time delays, CAPTCHAs, or forced lockouts if we do number of failed attempts.

If your cryptographic salt is not found in the password system, the attacker can pre-compute hash values for common passwords variants as well as all passwords shorter than the usual certain length, allowing very rapid recovery. Long lists of pre-computed password hashes may be efficiently stored rainbow tables. Such tables can be found on the Internet for several common password authentication systems.
Another situation where quick guessing is possible is when the password is utilized to form a cryptographic key. In these cases, an attacker can quickly confirm if a guessed password successfully decodes encrypted data. For instance, one commercial product claims to test 103,000 WPA PSK passwords per second.
Despite their capabilities, desktop CPUs are slower at cracking passwords than purpose-built password breaking machines. In 1998, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) built a passionate password cracker using FPGAs, as opposed to general purpose CPUs. Their machine, Deep Crack, broke a DES 56-bit type in 56 hours, testing over 90 billion keys per second. Really, the Georgia Tech Research Institute developed a method of using GPGPU to hack passwords, coming up with a minimum secure password period of 12 characters.
Possibly the fastest way to crack passwords is via the use of pre-computed rainbow tables. These encode the hashes of common passwords based on the most widely used hash functions and will crack passwords inside of seconds. I need a tool that can monitor bandwidth usage, doesn’t have to be for all computers on the network, just for 1 computer is fine, I could just install it on all of them and add up the usages. While you can get tools to monitor bandwidth on individual PCs, you will have to go to each to get the totals and add them up yourself (usually that’s how they work). These computer tools are good for monitoring a single PC, if that is all you have… A little harder with two, and almost an administrative nightmare when you have lots of PCs. Also, these tools run on Windows, but usually do not monitor things like Linux or Mac machines or other console devices (like Netflix). Try whatever you can, see if it is good enough. There are probably more commercial products out there, but you have to find one that supports all devices on your network – not cheap.
Now, the hard reality is that on a multi-PC/multi-device network, the only device that can monitor and control the overall bandwidth is a network device, usually a router or firewall at the feed point from the ISP you have. Most box store routers cannot do this (some can control priority or some usage, but not record “who” used “what”). To really control the bandwidth usage, and even throttle it yourself if limits are being approached, is a commercial or some Linux based firewall.
